Cut It Out!     > next
Live Performance and Installation at Kapelica Gallery. Ljubljana 2007.

Cut it out! is a critique and metaphor for the adaptation of the female body to society's standards, and for the construction and deconstruction of femininity. The creation, transformation and destruction of an item of clothing are performed, with a touch of irony and humor.

The performance is divided into three steps: the creation, transformation and destruction of an item of clothing. All steps are documented on video and presented in the form of projections. Cameras are placed in the space and positioned strategically towards my body and the projection surfaces.

The first step – the creation –was performed only for the video camera and presented in the form of projections.

The second and third steps, – transformation and destruction –is simultaneously performed, captured on video, and projected live and in front of the audience.
The transformation step occurs when the clothes gets pierced to my body and when comfort gets replaced by pain and embarrassment. The clothes gets adjusted, cut, and acquire a new form. The needles symbolize a penetrated, invaded body, a body to be disciplined.
